The Women’s Resource Centre was born on March 10, 1984 with goals of referring women to the appropriate agencies to gain assistance, as well as having drop-in hours. In the very beginning funds were raised through bake sales, flea markets, car washes and a community dance with the first office space being in the basement of the local pharmacy. Following this the WRC became a registered charity and received federal funding to operate on a one year basis. Each year since then we apply for grants to fund our positions and we continue to build our resource library, implement social programs and assist those in need through our thrift store and various services.
